Changing Network Configuration

Below is an example of a static IP configuration on a system with only one Ethernet interface (eth0) and 10.0.0.41/24 for the IP address. Opening the /etc/network/interfaces file will produce:

# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
    address 10.0.0.41
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    network 10.0.0.0
    broadcast 10.0.0.255
    gateway 10.0.0.1
    dns-nameservers 10.0.0.1 8.8.8.8
    dns-domain acme.com
    dns-search acme.com
